In partnership with AmCham Ghana, Digital Realty hosted senior executives, embassy officials, and industry leaders for an exclusive briefing and tour of its ACR2 Data Centre in Accra, underscoring that digital infrastructure is no longer a back-end concern but a strategic boardroom imperative.

ACCRA, GHANA; June 30 2026. Digital Realty, one of the world's largest providers of cloud- and carrier-neutral data centre solutions, welcomed members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ghana (AmCham Ghana) and invited guests to its ACR2 Data Centre in Accra for a high-level briefing and familiarization tour; a landmark engagement that placed digital infrastructure squarely at the centre of Ghana's business agenda.
The event, held in partnership with AmCham Ghana brought together chief executives, senior business leaders, ICT committee members, and representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Accra. It was designed not merely as a facility showcase, but as a strategic dialogue on the role of data infrastructure in enabling competitiveness, regulatory compliance, and economic growth across Ghana and the wider African continent.
"Digital infrastructure is no longer a back-end consideration, it is a strategic enabler of growth, compliance, and competitiveness."

Joseph Koranteng, Managing Director of Digital Realty, opened proceedings with a welcome address that framed the ACR2 facility as more than a technical asset. Speaking to an audience of decision-makers, Koranteng highlighted the convergence of data localization requirements, accelerating cloud adoption, and the continent's surging connectivity demands as factors making investment in local, world-class data centre infrastructure not just prudent, but urgent.

Laurie Kelleher, Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Accra, delivered remarks that underscored the strategic importance of the U.S.–Ghana digital trade relationship, noting that secure, reliable data infrastructure underpins investment confidence and cross-border business operations.

Doris Afanyedey, CEO of AmCham Ghana, added the chamber's perspective on the significance of the engagement, noting that access to world-class infrastructure is a competitive differentiator for AmCham members operating across sectors including finance, healthcare, logistics, and fast-moving consumer goods.

ABOUT THE ACR2 FACILITY

Kartey Caesar, Sales Manager at Digital Realty, presented an overview of the company's global footprint and the specific capabilities of the ACR2 facility. Guests learned that ACR2 is engineered to give businesses in Ghana a scalable, secure, and globally connected foundation, one capable of supporting the full spectrum of digital operations, from hybrid cloud deployments to colocation and interconnection.

Following the presentation, guests were led on a guided facility tour by Joseph Arthur-Yartel, ACR2's Facility Manager, walking through the infrastructure that sits beneath Ghana's growing digital economy, from power redundancy systems and cooling infrastructure to carrier-neutral connectivity suites.

A STRATEGIC MOMENT FOR GHANA'S DIGITAL ECONOMY

The timing of the event is significant. Ghana is at an inflection point in its digital journey, with the government's push for digital financial services, e-governance, and a growing startup ecosystem creating unprecedented demand for reliable, enterprise-grade data infrastructure. Digital Realty's ACR2 positions the country to attract further foreign direct investment by demonstrating that Ghana has the digital backbone to support global business operations.

The event closed with a networking session and lunch, during which guests engaged directly with the Digital Realty and AmCham teams. Group photographs were taken across key delegations. "It was our pleasure to facilitate this engagement. We look forward to strengthening our collaboration with Digital Realty and exploring additional opportunities to create value for our members and the broader business community."

The event reflects a broader trend across sub-Saharan Africa: businesses and governments are increasingly recognising that physical digital infrastructure, data centres, fibre networks, and neutral interconnection points are as foundational to economic development as roads, ports, and power grids.
